Exercise 2 — The Art of Hearing God Workshop
Source of Decision Audit
Instructions
Think about your last five meaningful decisions.
These should be real leadership decisions—not small or routine choices.
For each one, identify the primary driver behind the decision. Be honest—this is for personal reflection only.
Consider decisions like:
- A staffing decision
- A direction you set for your church
- How you handled a difficult situation
And perhaps one or two personal:
- Something related to your time, priorities, or family
- Something God may have been prompting you about
For each one, ask: What was the primary driver?

Personal Reflection
What patterns do you notice across your decisions?
Are you primarily led by the Spirit—or by other influences?
Where might God be inviting you to shift how you make decisions?
Reminder
Discernment is not just hearing God.
It is recognizing what is not God—and choosing differently.
